Just wondering what the general consensus is in regards to "headlights" - i.e., a nipple outline showing through your top. All of my bras are lightly lined because my nipples basically show no matter what. I can be wearing a lined bra, cami, and a sweater and sometimes you can still tell! Even when I'm not cold! I've never really been overly concerned with it for some reason, but there are so many pasties-type products out there to combat this that I feel like maybe I should care. But then there are also products like this that actually encourage it:

what do you all think? Or does no one else have an opinion? _________________ Lingerie is the poetry in a woman's wardrobe.

Have been told that the pasties are just a novelty spawned by the flashing bulbs of cameras trying to take a snap of a braless Victoria Beckham. Are these fairly new or have they been around for some time?

I remember seeing them on Sex and the City, which has been cancelled for several years now, so I'm guessing they've been around about 5 years maybe? _________________ Lingerie is the poetry in a woman's wardrobe.

| Knew I had seen these before...Mandolina did a blog post on them here . I can understand why you would want to maybe protect your modesty but not sure why you would want to use those fake ones. Could you think of a situation where you would want people to deliberately notice your nipples? |

oh, no! I would never use those fake nipple things! I would feel far more than slightly ridiculous.
I guess I just meant that until the past year or so, I never really cared or thought much either way about whether my nipples showed or not. But lately pasties seem to have become more popular which got me thinking about how maybe I'm "supposed" to do something about my little problem, but then there are those fake nipple things which makes it look like an outline showing may not be the worst thing in the world if some people are actually buying fake nipples just to get that effect. I was just trying to gauge what everyone else thought about the necessity of covering up that nipple effect or just leaving it be _________________ Lingerie is the poetry in a woman's wardrobe.

| Maybe use the pasties for certain situations where you feel you might possibly get unwanted attention (like when the paparazzi are snapping you landing at LAX) or are going to somewhere like Aspen where the problem could be exacerbated! But if you have been happy until now and don't see a problem then don't conform because you feel like you are 'supposed to'. I'm no expert though.... |

The pasties are useful, both as a cover underneath semi-see-through and as a sexy standalone
As we're on the subject of the first, I don't think it's really just about the nipples poking out the top. Camera flashes can MAKE some fabric see-through (there's been quite a few instances of non-see-through clothing becoming completely transparent by a camera flash), so the nipple covers would be hard to notice by anyone EXCEPT by flash photographers....
That's one of the reasons why I'd probably get me some "just to be sure" as a celeb... There's always wearing a bra too, off course |

i remember that episode kelly!!! so funny. i think most people err on the side of modesty, at least at work, but i guess for a night out on the town it isn't as big of a deal. and i guess particularly (like on the episode) if you are trying to get some male attention, maybe you want to let them show through!!
i just got an idea for a posting. maybe you haven't tried the brand i'm mentioning. we'll have to link to this forum to get more people talking!!! |

ha! just thinking about a time i had on a black dress with nude colored bra (huit mademoiselle, fyi) and there were pictures taken and you could totally see through the dress! it was night time and i didn't notice. you couldn't tell without the flash... |
