So I was wondering if other people have had any gorgeous lingerie that has either been lost, ruined, or perhaps just outgrown, and that you wish you could get back.

I was just thinking of this today because my favorite pair of lace-backed panties died today, in a manner of speaking. They were made of blue satin and they had a ribbon lacing them up the back. I mourn their loss so much because they were the first truly sexy piece of lingerie I ever bought, and I got them in the Victoria's Secret clearance bin for $3.99! These were kind of getting old anyway, and I don't wear them very often, but when they got ruined from accidentally being in the dryer I was positively ill. This is silly but I felt weird just throwing them away in the garbage.

Of course since I bought these panties I have gotten nicer panties, from better designers, that have held up better with time and are probably more gorgeous. But I still wish I had these back! So sad. Oh well. I guess it was just their time to go. And in a few months, maybe I will be ready to replace them with some new blue panties.

I am way too attached to my underwear.

I'm so sorry to hear about your panties! I know what you mean, though. I still have my first "sexy" thong (a teal leopard print, it's so freaking tacky but when I was a teenager I thought it was SO hot) that I bought when I was about 13 (I had to completely sneak them into the house because my mom would have shot me!). It is SOO old and I obviously don't wear it anymore, but I haven't ever had the heart to throw it away.

There isn't any one thing that sticks out in my mind that I've lost, though. I mourn every time I have to ditch one of my pretty bras because they are my favorite piece of lingerie. And my time with my bras is the shortest because they wear out faster than anything else. It is just too hard to throw them out, seeing all that gorgeous silk and lace sitting in the trash can! Even though I have a million other bras in my closet and I will have a gazillion more in my future, I feel like a part of me is in that trash can because I'll never find another one that makes me feel exactly the same way again.

My name is Kelly, and I'm a lingerieaholic!

Very Happy

yes. i actually cleared out the bra drawer yesterday of bras that I never wear and that are from when I used to fit in VS bras. Ha. THey were taking up space for the two new ones I got - Vitality from Fayreform and Allure from Fantasie (in read).

I didn't know the allure came in red! I've only seen black and ivory. Where did you get it in red??

I had my very first black lacy thong (the brand name escapes my mind right now) way back in college. Now it's run it's course. And I've also shifted my loyalty to seamless panties.

I had a strapless bra that got lost a few days after I bought it -- literally! I've asked my sister countless times if she saw it but said no. Wore it once, washed it, kept in in the closet which we share. Just as I was about to rearrange my stuff, it ain't there anymore. Sad, sad...

Jeannie,

Sorry about tle loss your prized Bra. Loss of something sensual and comfortable is hard to take. I really hope it turns up and in great shape.

You got my attention when you mentioned, though, that you switched your 'loyalty' from thongs to seamless panties. I also find seamless underwear to be the pinnicle of fit, comfort and a nice hugging sensuality. Over time I'm thinning out my underwear to fix more on some nice seamless. I really like the Ambrielle Smooth revolution Seamless bikini ; It provides a wonderful support. I also really like Warners "All Day Fit" bikinis for the wonderful soft support and thin lace edge that is light as a feather.

Do you have any recommendations for a nice seamless that may help expand my quest for comfort, fit, and a nice sensual support?

I think this is a great topic. We all develope "relations" with different clothing and shoes, and memories go all the way to our childhood. A piece can often remind us of a certain time or experience in our lives.
And yes, with our own intimate apparel we may even develope a more intimate connection.

As for me, I always liked as a girl to browse through my mother's and aunt's drawers, thinking what I will have once I become "a lady". I got my first "lady-like" luxury piece when I was in my early 20's. It was a De Pledge pink silk gown that came with a matching bed jacket.

I first spotted this masterpiece looking through the window of a fine lingerie store in my home town. It caught my attention right away, but when I checked the price it was unfortunately out of my league. Months have passed by and when I walked by that store I would still glance through the window on occasion, making sure it's still there. Once I saw the sale sign I entered the store again, and much to my delight it was 50% off! Trying it on in the dressing room only convinced me that this is the one. And it was certainly an experience seeing myself wearing it with all those mirrors in there. Most important, I could tell right away that a lot of thought was put into the design and comfortability of the garments, not to mention the fabric's quality.

That piece became an instant favorite and was my "special occasion" set for quite some time. Nevertheless, I would still find myself wearing it for no apparent reason when I was all alone.

Despite all my best efforts to take good care of it, as well as some body "evolvement" on my part, I finally had to give it away. I didn't have the heart to put it in the garbage, so I gave it to a funky local used clothing store. Couple weeks later I went back there and the owner told me about that young woman who stepped in the day before and was delighted to get it. I'm glad the legend lives on!!!

I have shared some parts of this story before on this site, so you may already know how I felt upon learning that De Pledge closed shop some two years ago. Good new is that there are plenty of other great lingerie companies out there. And besides, I don't have to wait for the sale price any more....
