Hello,
I see a lot of posts on this asking about what to buy other halfs? Just wondered if anyone had ever thought about or has hada bespoke item made?
Imaging telling your other half how you had helped with the design, chose fabric you thought they would especially like...etc. I think the trouble you would have gone to to get a peice made for them that noone else has would be really special, or am I a big sap??
Or is it easier to just find something you like and buy it? As i suppose that way you can see what your getting?
The reason I ask is I offer this service, as do many other sites-not making a personal advert- and I just wanted to know if many made use of the service. I'd really like to hear from anyone who has and see what they hought of the whole experience.

I've never given or received a gift that was custom-made like that, but I think that if you did get a specially-made item for someone, you'd have to be *very* sure of all of their exact measurements, because that's something you can't exchange for another size!
But if you could be sure that you were getting the correct size, I think it would be very sweet and sentimental. _________________ Lingerie is the poetry in a woman's wardrobe.

You are right Kelly, getting the correct measurements is important. So you would think that people would be very careful when supplying that information. But surprisingly we struggle quite a bit - even though it is all clearly requested in our check out. We had one a month or so back that, if they had been correct, would have meant the person was conical in shape! Naturally we queried this and were supplied with an entirely different set of measurements. In that sort of situation we do feel nervous placing our order with the supplier.
We offer two made to measure collections now. Diki by Diane Rubach and the wonderful Jane Woolrich. We have only recently taken the Jane Woolrich collection but Diane's gorgeous designs have been popular with our customers since we started in 2006. In that time we have had only two problems where the customer's measurements had not been accurate but in each case Diane stepped in with a rework. So I suppose I would advise anyone considering made to measure underwear, first to get their measurements right and then also check what the situation would be if they were to make a mistake.
But apart from the pitfall of measurements, there is something really special about having a nightdress or a lingerie set made specially for you. (Hint to other half ) And it shows a degree of planning which is also very special.
Bye for now

I suppose that would be tricky, but most handmade items are made to standard sizes in patterns, and I think it would be the same as buying any item online if they were made that way e.g. size 8 as opposed to 32 underbust etc
Though I can only imagine the great feel it would be to get something that fit just right. As I'm naturally wee so everything always sort of hangs, like even the items that are meant to stretch around you! I made a collection to try and solve this but didnt make the items to my measurements for the modelling of it. Strangley enough I've never actually made something just for myself...a must I think now!!

Hi again
I think that there is a slight mix up between made to order and made to measure here.
We have both, and yes made to order is done in standard sizes. The designers who do this for us are Delicious Thongs, Liliana Casanova and Sonata Lingerie. The main advantage of this for a retailer like us is that we don't have to have a warehouse the size of an aircraft hanger. I know lingerie is small but you would be surprised how much space you need when you start having it in volume, especially if it is boxed. Anyway that is another issue.
The designers I mentioned in the earlier post do bespoke, non standard sizes. Generally, if a site does not make a distinction, you can tell if an item is made to order or made to measure because the lead time is usually shorter for made to order.
Bye for now
