Hi, I'm new here, so please excuse me if I say anything dumb!
I'd like a bit of advice. My 16 year old sister and I are great friends and have a lot in common, including taste in fashion, lingerie and bikinis, but recently she's been talking about getting a bit of a sexier bikini. I'm all for her being a bit daring and exploring herself, but I'm not 100% convinced that she's old enough to be wearing anything TOO daring just yet.
She's looked over a heap of sites and has found heaps that she likes and has narrowed it down to these 3.
Kauai Bikini orange polka dot brazilian bikini
Wicked Weasel 477 zebra mesh bikini
Wicked Weasel 490 lace-up bikini
Personally, I'd rather her get the Kauai polka dot brazilian, just because I think its a bit more appropriate for her age, but she reckons she's old enough to wear any of them and is leaning towards the Wicked Weasel 490 lace-up in black.
What do you all think? Are any of these designs appropriate for a 16 year old to be wearing in public? We live near the beach in Australia if that makes any difference.
I know she's at the age where she's totally into exploring her identity and everything. I was 16 myself a few years ago, but I'm still not sure.
What do you think? |

In my opinion, they are all awfully revealing for 16. When I think 16 I think something more like this:
I mean, even with those you basically still see 99% of your skin!
That's just my opinion. Just like revealing clubwear, I think the really sexy stuff should be for the older girls (20s). I think when you're 16 you're excited about your new curves and boobs and want the whole world to be as happy as you are...but that's not necessarily a good idea.
Of course, this is coming from someone who's never seen microwear outside of TLP, so maybe where you're from it's less shocking? I live in the middle of the US - definitely not near a beach or "beach culture" _________________ Brevity is the soul of lingerie

Number one looks pretty... Number two and 3 really don't look like a 16 year-old's bathing suit....
It's a tough call to make over the net, I know, but still... Sixteen is sixteen, Wicked Weasel is Wicked Weasel 16 year old girls in Wicked Weasel just doesn't sound right... |

Just to clear things up, I'm not the 16 y.o. girl in question. I'm her 19 y.o. sister.
Thanks for suggesting those other bikini's kelly. I think the first one in your post is really cute. But its really similar to what my sister already has and when I showed it to her she said 'its nice, but still not what I'm after'.
She's really really keen on the Wicked Weasel's. She likes the name, the fact that they are made in Australia, and the fact that they are pretty rare. She said the last thing she wants is to see someone else on the beach in the same bikini as her.
Also, I don't think her fascination with sexy bikinis is because of her 'new' boobs and body. She was a pretty early developer. She already had boobs as big as mine by the time she was 14. She's just really confident and outgoing and likes to be noticed.
Initially she was looking at these
but I said NO WAY!, mainly because of the g-string back. Thats why I steered her towards the 3 I showed in my original post.
But if you reckon that even those 2 wicked weasel ones are too sexy, what about these 491 Surf Shorts?
better? |

I actually love those (mentioned them on the website before, btw!), but beware of the sheer! These can be more see-through than you'd like! Go with the solid colors!
And hey, seriously, we're not here to judge people on what they want to wear. It's still JUST a bikini, and if you feel good in something, and you feel goodlooking in something..... You catch my drift, right? (plus, I do have a feeling there is a different beach culture in Auzzie-land, good for them! ).
Another VERY SEXY possibility, without having her run around with her bottom naked - a brazilian bottom like this one by Microkitten: http://www.microkitten.com/product.asp?id=3&subcatID=6 |

thanks Mandolina, I appreciate your input, but where's everyone else?!?! Come on people, don't be shy!
Your right about some of the WW fabrics being really sheer! She wants the 490 Lace Up in solid black, so it shouldn't be as sheer as the white one.
Mandolina, that micro kitten rio back bikini is totally hot, I love it! But my sister said if she had to get a brazilian back, she'd rather the orange polka dot one in my first post.
As for Aussie beach culture, microwear is still a long way from being common. While we aren't as conservative as Americans at the beach (in general), we are still a long way from the very very uninhibited brazilian beach culture.
Most of my sister's friends wear any of these sorts of bikini styles to the beach:
So obviously if she got a Wicked Weasel or Kauai bikini, she'd be going a step or two further in terms of sexiness, but its not like all her friends wear neck-to-knee suits.
Again, I'll say, please, everyone feel free to join the discussion. Is there anyone else around her age that can give us some insight, or anyone who has a daughter that age or similar? |

Wow, this is a tough one.
As readers of my previous post know, my girlfriend and I are big fans of Wicked Weasel, and I am an American who would like to see our culture get a lot less prudish. Our bodies and our sexuality are gifts, and embracing them in public can be a liberating confidence booster, so I'm sympathetic to your sister's interest.
On the other hand, 16 years old is pretty young in absolute terms. But everyone ages differently, and some people are much more mature and balanced at that age than others. Frankly, I think a lot of the hesitation has to do with the sexuality that microwear definitely implies, and that raises some basic questions: is she sexually active? If so, how does she handle that? Others may disagree with me here, but if she's NOT sexually active already, that would make me more hesitant to endorse the WW idea. Letting your self-image get too far ahead of your life experience is a recipe for irresponsible sexuality. If she is active, though, and already has learned a bit about how to handle that aspect of becoming a young woman, then it's harder to justify saying no to a sexy bikini. (To be clear: those are not questions I'm interested in hearing the answers to on this forum, but rather questions to address in your conversations with your sister. I'm not interested in prying into teenagers' sex lives!)
Incidentally, what do you wear to the beach or pool? Is she trying to imitate her big sis? |

I bought my daughter a weasel bikini when holidaying in auss, she was just 16 and has been a goody to shoes to much, i think it has helped her with her self confidence as she has always been shy
she was like "eww, wow, i couldn't" when she seen some other girls wearing similar style bikinis at the beachs so we got one each and she realised that she can be like the other girls, but back home where its a little more conservative on the beachs and therefore not to common, she dosn't wear that often, But does have friends who want to copy her, so i too am interested if she is copying you

Hi - for something a little bit different, at least in Europe what about Mar Egeu.
They are Brazilian bikinis, and actually cover up a bit more than some of the bikinis already shown, but still are sexy, fun, well made and above all different enough to stand out from the crowd.
They can be found at www.ever-so-sexy.com
Prices start at just over £22 - so they are not going to break the bank.

| The Kauai orange polka-dot brazilian is cute for her age. The Wicked Weasel 477 Zebra Mesh is an ok choice and the 451 Surf short the most practical from Wicked Weasel. Good luck ! |
